This was an experimental OS, a fork of nixpkgs with a custom mesa for just my Linux Mac Studio (with Vulkan 1.3 support) and Arcan Durden as the window manager / desktop engine.
To use it, you need to be running NixOS already and clone it to /src
git clone https://github.com/ceonlabs/ceon /src
Afterwards, add your own hardware-configuiration.nix to /src and any custom firmware drivers (if using Asahi Linux).
This custom nixpkgs is totally independent from the NixOS cache, and designed to work without builders or substituters.
The commands to switch to it by using that nixpkgs and nixos-config the first time are:
nixos-rebuild switch -I nixpkgs=/src -I nixos-config=/src/configuration.nix
After the rebuild and reboot, you can just do:
nixos-rebuild switch
This liberates you from a lot of upstream decisions and lets you used advanced features like content addressed derivations without worrying about channels or flakes.
It was fun, but now I am off to greener pastures.

Artifacts successfully built with Hydra are published to cache at https://cache.nixos.org/. When successful build and test criteria are met, the Nixpkgs expressions are distributed via Nix channels.
Nixpkgs is among the most active projects on GitHub. While thousands of open issues and pull requests might seem a lot at first, it helps consider it in the context of the scope of the project.
