Releases: ParadoxGameConverters/EU4ToVic3
0.5.1 Elyseia - for EU4[1.37] and Vic3[1.7]
EU4 to Vic3 Converter
0.5.1 - Elyseia
This is a mid-version release triggered by adding support for Third Odyssey: Back to the Motherland. Aside for that, we're prepping for a while a whole new Economic system that effectively simulates what vic3 does. This should help with placing a workable existing world economy with less shortages on game start.
Hotfixes
- Thankfully, none.
Coldfixes
- We're now exporting all altered cultures, fixing some rare issues with defaulting to vanilla cultural traits.
- Fix to ensure shogun doesn't survive forced unification of Japan.
- Various corrections and fixes for Decentralized World submod we use for wastelands.
- Fix for iffy portugese trait mappings.
- Fix for losing dominions if overlord is unrecognized.
Enhancements
- Third Odyssey: Back to the Motherland support.
- Option to tweak if Power Blocks are formed and which.
- Enhancements to Europa Expanded mod support - subject types, tags, etc.
- Better fluctuation of colony map colors to differentiate them from overlord once they get free but don't form something.
- Transfer of Liberty Desire is now 1:1 from EU4.
- Huge prep for an economy rework, in effect simulating the Vic3 economic engine to a high degree of fidelity.
Shuffles
- Additions to culture mappings.
- Corrections and fixes to province mappings, tag mappings, law mappings, etc.
0.5 Erzurum - for EU4[1.37] and Vic3[1.7]
EU4 to Vic3 Converter
0.5 - Erzurum
After a ton of work, we managed to get the converter compatible with the massive 1.7 Vic3 update. This cost us quite a bit of custom scripting, but on the upside, games run error-free and seem quite stable. We now have Power Blocs coming from EU4! They mostly involve EU4 GP nations and their vassals - which also dictates the flavor of the bloc like Monarchies into Empires or Theocracies into Religious Leagues - but we'll expand on this in future so even smaller entities (OPMs in trade leagues) can be imported.
Hotfixes
- Thankfully, none.
Coldfixes
- Ensured republics get access to democracy law or else risk being yeeted back to monarchy.
- Compatibility patch for new ImpToCK2 culture groups so these map in a non-broken fashion.
- A fix for buggy Vic3 parsing of names containing ' character when running in debug mode.
Enhancements
- Support for Vic3 v1.7
- Support for EU4 1.37
- Ability to dynamically swap culture group traits when EU4 swaps culture groups on the fly (russian->russian_new etc).
- A stupidly insanely huge name list update by @Iohannes. Some cultures now have RL-sized banks of names available.
Shuffles
- Various cultural and religion mappings ironed out.
- Various country tag mappings and expansions.
0.4 Durres - for EU4[1.36-1.37] and Vic3[1.6]
EU4 to Vic3 Converter
0.4 - Durres
This release features a host of small fixes, general corrections, mapping expansions and finally support for Vic3 1.6.
PSA: If you are running an Imperator: Rome megacapaign to vic3 - contact me (@Zemurin) on the forums and upload entire chain of saves and conversion mods if you can (Imp+CK3+EU4 saves+mods). We are noticing some issues with long-running megacampaign chains and would like to fix them.
Hotfixes
- Fixed CTD due to missing custom emblem no.121. Of which there were supposed to be only 120.
- But no, they added no.121. Why. Why not dump a random unused one and replace THAT one with a reverse crescent?
- Who needs no.25 The Pig anyway? Who makes flags with The Pig?!
- Anyway. It's fixed now.
Coldfixes
- Decentralized countries no longer get to claim anything.
- We no longer generate 0-size pops due to rounding or other errors. This isn't to say there won't be empty states though.
Enhancements
- Support for Vic3 v1.6
- Expanded religious and cultural mappings
- Huge expansions of name pools for various cultures and languages.
- Now we import EU4 flags instead of Vic3 default generated (which are often completely random) ones when no preset Vic3 CoA def is available.
Shuffles
- Updated religious icons
- Added more CK2 religions
- Various script fixes, mapping shuffles and general ironing.

EU4 to Vic3 Converter
0.1.1A - Adrianopole
Expansions:
- NEW: Trade Companies into separate entitites/countries. Except in Africa. Except except south africa.
- Devpush population shaping method - Dev push provinces to get more starting pops. Capped at approx +50%. Pops aren't spawned from thin air, they are migrated from elsewhere in the superregion.
- Superregional Extreme population shaping method - use absolute dev of provinces to redistribute entire superregion of people proportionally. 50 dev/province state will get 10x pops of a 5dev/province state. This is useful for flat-dev/MP games.
0.1 Adrianopole - for EU4[1.34] and Vic3[1.1]
EU4 to Vic3 Converter
0.1A - Adrianopole
Having compressed 7 years of EU4toVic2 development into a 3 month long Eu4toVic3 development spree, we now have a nominally functional, if somewhat barebones, converter that produces playable games.
The converter is supporting approximately 90% of EU4toVic2 features, and having some novel tweaks ontop of that.
First release of EU4toVic3 supports:
- EU4 Countries: laws, techs, characters, relations, diplomacy. No wars yet.
- Decentralized World countries: These fill up empty map spaces with decentralized nations.
- Clay: Borders, states/substates - as precise as possible but only Europe and parts of Asia have been hand-ironed.
- Economy: We construct an entirely novel world economy based on Vic3 vanilla measurements. More methods will come later.
- Population: We stick to vanilla state population sizes (for now). Slaves and minorities are transplanted from vanilla, for now.
- Cultures, religions, homelands, claims, releasable nations, formable nations.
- Eurocentrism to shape the world geopolitical state, fully configurable.
- Major mod support: Voltaire's Nightmare - which seamlessly fuses VN map with vanilla 1836 scenario outside it.
Major differences from EU4toVic2 are:
- There are no army/navy conversions as those are not present in Vic3.
- There are no "cultural union" formables as Vic3 has no concept of a cultural group.
Expansion goals for further development:
- Dynamic slave/minority pop generation depending on EU4 circumstances.
- Colonial tags that reflect cultures that formed them (so a british Brazil is very different from portugese Brazil).
- Wars.
- More dynamic formables.
- Population reshuffle according to regional dev centers in EU4.
- More EU4 dev impact on economy.
- And whatever else turns out we need.
Enjoy the conversions!
